When recording with mobile devices, a TRRS output is always required.

Microphones used for audio recordings are often equipped with a TRS connection. While a smartphones or other mobile device is equipped with a TRRS connection. So a direct combination does not work. This adapter therefore forms the linking pin between the two.

The TRS plug can be recognized by the three contact surfaces; the tip (the tip), the ring (the middle part) and the sleeve (back part, also called sleeve). The TRRS has two rings in the middle, which makes it known as the four-pin connector. The TRRS connection is used, among other things, with smartphones to connect a headset with a built-in microphone.
