The RØDE VideoMic Pro+ is a new addition to the best-in-market on-camera category. It is a true shotgun microphone designed for use with camcorders, DSLR cameras and portable audio recorders as a source of primary and reference audio.

The Rode Video Mic Pro + is the developed version of the regular Video Mic Pro. This microphone uses an internal LB-1 battery that you can recharge to power the microphone, but should this battery nevertheless run out, you can exchange it for two standards 1.5-volt Penlight (AA) batteries. The windshield has also been improved by slightly adapting the shape. As a result, wind already has less influence on the noise of the microphone, so the own noise contribution is even lower than that of the award-winning Video Mic Pro.

The Video Mic Pro + has a Rycote Lyre suspension so that sound caused by holding the camera does not affect the recorded sound. If the camera has a microphone connection with plug-in power, the microphone can turn itself on and off when the camera is turned on. Of course, you can also work with the microphone without this plug-in power connection on the camera.

As a special feature, this microphone has a built-in High Pass filter that, when switched on, only transmits frequencies above 80Hz and filters everything underneath. In this way you can prevent annoying sounds from, for example, wind reaching the camera. A three-stage level setting allows you to adjust the volume of the microphone to -10dB, 0dB or + 20dB so you always enter the correct volume in the camera and a high frequency boost function ensures that you do not notice any damping the high tones when you place a dead cat over the microphone.

Another special feature is that you record a bit louder on one channel than on the other channel. This allows you to choose which channel you use for the audio, so that any problems with clipping audio are past.
